Shepton Mallet old Gaol
You can visit and have a tour around Shepton Mallet's old Gaol

Twenty-one of us went on a pre-arranged guided tour of the Prison on a hot sunny day.  We had a knowledgeable and engaging guide, who explained the SMP’s history (not leaving out the more gruesome parts!), some of its more notorious inmates (e.g. the Kray twins) and how it operated and changed over the three centuries since prisoners were first jailed there in 1625 up to its closure in 2013.

As well as prison tours, SMP is also often used as film set.  The best-known example is probably Paddington 2.
