Wells Union Workhouse (19)

The site of the current Health Centre was established in 1838 as the Wells Union Workhouse. One of the occupations of the residents was to break stones at this work bench, which is now at the museum in Ripon, Yorkshire.


(1838 - 1930). NHS from 1948

The team unveil the Blue Plaque outside Wells Health Centre.

The original workbench is now at the museum in Ripon, Yorkshire.
