About The Event
Did you know that Vicars Hall, completed in 1348 for Bishop Ralph of Shrewsbury, was originally built as the assembly and dining hall for the Vicars Choral? It is believed to incorporate an earlier medieval structure, likely the remnants of a canon’s house.
Before the vaulted entrance gate we see today, the Vicars Close was accessed through a narrow passageway about 2 meters wide between the east row of houses and the hall. Interestingly, in the early 1800s, Vicars Hall was even used by a local brewery!
